une of the senior clerks in ander Wieler & Co. was an Englishman of the name of J.H.backhouse who signed "per pro". kr. backhouse has recently returned to Hongkong from changhai where it is stated he rade an arrangement with .#. & Co. to deal here in their goods under their old trade marks.

Fr.J. Lanners, who signs "per procuration" for
Siemssen Co. at the outbreak of the war, is a british
born subject having gone to Germany as a child, He came
out to Hongkong and is reported to be very pro German.
